It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was out the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
