US actor Finn, who appeared in iconic television series including "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California on Monday following cancer treatment from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a announcement.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on several popular shows, including:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

His most famous role for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series over nearly a decade.

His work in movies are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Away from his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a comedy group of six called "Beer Shark Mice".

"He taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, fellow actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared publicly.

Finn is survived by his partner Donna, three children, and his family.
