England face the Chinese team – Female Exhibition Match

Overview

Welcome everyone to the friendly fixture between the English side and the Chinese squad at the iconic Wembley. An exciting encounter is anticipated with the reigning European champions competing against the current Asian Cup champions.

The iconic Wembley is fully booked for the match, which will see Fran Kirby recognized pre-match after her departure from the England squad before the Euros this past summer.

The team news will be announced shortly, but there was a last minute squad update for England. On Friday, Khiara Keating withdrew from the squad with a minor injury, and so former number one Ellie Roebuck has been summoned.

With Hannah Hampton injured, it will be interesting to see who head coach Sarina Wiegman selects in goal. That news and all the other updates are coming up before the start of the match at 5.30pm GMT.

Team News

Squad details are now available. Anna Moorhouse will be the goalkeeper for England in the non-presence of Hannah Hampton and Khiara Keating.

The Lionesses: Moorhouse, Bronze, Charles, Walsh, Le Tissier, Morgan, Mead, Stanway, Russo, Toone, Hemp.

Substitutes: Hings, Baggaley, Kendall, Wubben-Moy, Beever-Jones, Kelly, Kearns, Park, Blindkilde Brown, Roebuck, Clinton, Denton, Fisk, Godfrey.

We are awaiting the squad from China now; as soon as I have it, I will post it.

Captaincy Update

Keira Walsh is leading the Lionesses with Leah Williamson still sidelined. Here’s what she had to say before this match:

First Cap News

Tonight’s game will be Anna Moorhouse’s maiden cap for England. She was a part of the Euro-winning side who claimed victory this past summer, but she did not feature with Hannah Hampton in the first-choice keeper position.
