Followers Call for Arrest of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the actress are demanding that a man who breached a barricade and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A viral clip shows the Australian man shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a event pathway accompanied by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being taken in", though legal records showed that he was due to be present on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
History of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram profile includes videos of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last year.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Fans Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several fans blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more message on Instagram.
Some fans also criticised event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while others called for digital services to remove Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In footage circulating online, Grande appeared surprised when she was grabbed by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of attendees had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore mall, including several who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The film, to be released on November 21, is the follow-up of a two-part interpretation of the acclaimed theatrical show Wicked, which focuses on the surprising relationship between two distinct sorceresses.
The production itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and scored a dozen Oscar nominations, winning a pair for best costume and artistic direction.
