Los Angeles witnessed widespread celebrations after the Dodgers clinched a nail-biting seven-game World Series title. Fans worldwide joined Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in 25 years that a team has achieved back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Draws Enormous Crowds
Los Angeles area events featured a procession through the city center on Monday morning, a ticketed rally at the team's home stadium, and spontaneous parties throughout the city.
Social media videos depict thousands of Angelenos packing downtown streets, many carrying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The team was seen riding high on a double-decker bus through the masses, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy proudly.
“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to achieve this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an interpreter.
The procession path concluded at Dodger Stadium, where the players emerged to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard spinning music and the artist cruising a Pacific blue classic car around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Festivities started prior to the parade, with Dodgers fans lighting fireworks in the roads of the city center on Sunday night.
The World Series MVP, awarded the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, commented plainly about the victory.
“Losing is not an option,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
In contrast, Mark Walter received a cooler reception at the rally. Video footage from the gathering seem to depict him walking onstage to a mix of applause and jeers, with jeers punctuating his address.
The World Series served as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for the city. An approximate 225,000 people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to team member one athlete, supporters this year demonstrated as much if not more enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s nearly twice from last year,” he remarked. “The supporters are incredible. It’s truly amazing to be a involved in this.”
