President Trump Calls Relatives of Shot National Guard Personnel to the White House
President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Devastating Event
Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.
Presidential Offer
The president said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Community Support
Attendees gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to honor Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in the capital.
Paying Tribute to Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the media. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to support those in need.”
Service arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments
Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the government to suspend asylum processing and cease providing visas to holders of travel documents.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told a news show that she planned to visit his relatives.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey told the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
