The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game
The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership was established to create a TTRPG that explores the series' apocalyptic setting. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to begin in April of 2026.
"This project aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.
Initial offerings are set to feature a beginner's box, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.
Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World
In this setting, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was released in NYC, plunging the nation into chaos. As the pandemic worsens, civil order breaks down and hostile groups rise, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. That’s where the players come in.
Work on the RPG has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider market, specifically in North America. Production will start immediately following the fundraiser, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.
A Streamlined Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System
An early look at the game's rules confirms it uses d10s exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and strategic style. Players use skills or traits to assemble a handful of dice, usually between one and five d10s.
- Rather than adding results together, players choose a single “resolution die” from the pool.
- This dice is then measured against a target difficulty.
- Achieving a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.
Engagements Focus On Tactical Placement and Situational Insight
Battles stress placement and environmental awareness, reflecting the source material. Elements like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This mechanic seems built to favor teamwork and clever tactics over raw numbers.
A Thematic Health Mechanic
The way health is managed adds a compelling thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by lowering the size of their dice pool.
- At critical condition, an agent is downed, but is not knocked out.
- They may still move and take limited actions, simulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
- Any agent knocked down must roll on a trauma table, risking lingering conditions like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.
A Ready-to-Play Scenario
A publicly available introductory rulebook will be released in the near future. It includes a ready-to-play starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an assault by the notorious Rikers faction, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. Further information and the full range of offerings will be detailed near the campaign launch.
