The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry game that players explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for celebrating chaos and insanity with the same enthusiasm, all while presenting engaging, socially charged tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose work have exemplified all of those qualities.

Show Details

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' format by introducing a different setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a variation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of society through this complex and turbulent lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and bring our common irreverent, ambitious approach to the audience.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
